Choreography Structure
Contrasting to this we twist into a bad memory when the music gets slightly more distressing and upbeat. A group will
highlight negativities and use body language to represent the distressing
thoughts. The section after this introduces a gradual build-up where we split
into two teams and show the brain preparing to fight against itself to link
back to our original theme of mental health, and Dissociative identity disorder
(DID). During this we mirror each other using the same movements just in
different dynamics to make a point of the two personalities conflicting.
There is then a trill in the music where we do a small combination
of steps to anticipate the next big change which is the fight, where the
personalities collide, and dance mostly in unison, the music really strikes us
here and we will use more powerful movements to stress the music dynamics, and
tempo through dance. Here we are thinking about doing some really big jumps and even punch motions to emphasise the immense dynamics. There is then a short realisation section, where the brain
notices the terrible behaviour, and stresses about what it’s done wrong. Once
we realise, the pace picks up again and there is a sense of urgency as we are searching
for a treatment for our DID. The music changes and feels crazy, we all move in
unison to illustrate that it never leaves us, and we have to hide it instead of
helping it. We come together, then block out the split and constant distance
from our own body. The song then begins to fade back into the beginning, then
as a group we repeat the start to conclude, a day in the life of someone with
DID.
As a group we listened through the music and chose time
slots with significant change and gave each slot a meaning choreographically and
then designated a few people to choreograph each section.

Hi Portia, well done on your blog post I really like how you explained the different section and what they portray for your piece, however to make your blog even better I think you could possibly include some movement examples of what you might use to show the intention of your section. Hope you found this feedback useful and well done.
ReplyDeleteHi Portia, this is a great piece of work I love how in depth u went, maybe you could just add some material or choreography ideas as it would help you portray the intention of the section
ReplyDeleteAll in all though well done it was amazing
Hi Portia, great blog post. Maybe start to think about how you are going to clearly present the ideas in the structure you have put forward to an audience using movement
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you have set out this blog, you have carefully gone through in chronological order of the piece and explained the mood and feelings that we want to portray. I think it would be amazing if you could just add in what the music is like at some points, for example is the music loud, soft, dramatic etc...
ReplyDeleteHi Portia, I like the structure of this blog. Going forward maybe describe the music in the section of the music and what that portrays.
ReplyDeleteYou have explained what the theme and movement of each section represents using feelings and emotions that link directly back to the stimulus and chorepgraphic intention. Maybe you could explain in more detail how the music changes what does it sound like. Perhaps you could include a link to the music that you have used.
